Winners for the 2021 Creating Original Music Project include three students from the North Callaway School District.

Lacie Reetz, North Callaway Williamsburg Elementary fourth grader, wrote and sang “The Lion Song” to win first place in the contest. This is her second time entering the contest. She took second last year.

Hannah Reetz, a second grade student at the school, wrote and sang “The Thunderbird” for second place. Violet Martin, a North Callaway Middle School student, wrote and sang “What I Did” to take third.

“All three of these girls have been singing since they could talk,” said their teacher, Sherry Reetz.

This year’s COMP Festival showcasing the best of those compositions will take place online, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 24 on the University of Missouri School of Music’s YouTube channel and the Mizzou New Music Facebook page.
