Van-Far R-1 announces basketball game regulations

As a result of the continuing pandemic the Van-Far School District decided to set new guidelines limiting the number of spectators at home basketball games for the foreseeable future.

Each Van-Far student athlete will be given three passes to give to family or friends to attend games. Staff members will be permitted without a ticket, but there will be no “plus one” allowed until further notice. And there will be a lottery drawing for each game with 30 student tickets and 10 community member tickets.

To be entered into the drawing, students must sign up at the office. To be eligible for the 10 community tickets, residents will need to email their name and phone number to or call 573-594-6442.

There are 60 tickets set aside for visiting schools. Administrators will be permitted without a ticket.

Admission will be $3 for adults and $2 for children or senior citizens. Non-school age students are free and will not need a ticket. Elementary students must stay seated with an adult during the games.

It is asked that everyone do their best at practicing social distancing. There will be a separate, designated area for visitors.
