Mason Carroll and the other Community R-6 seniors made sure the team had a victorious Senior Night on Monday against Class 1 No. 6 Higbee.
The game was played at Mexico High School due to wet field conditions at Community for the second time this season. After three slow offensive innings, the Trojans broke through with seven runs in the fourth inning to defeat Higbee 9-0 on Senior Night. The senior Carroll struck out 12 in seven innings and had four RBI, including a two RBI home run.
Carroll and Lane Carter each had two-RBI singles in that big inning that started with two errors from Higbee (10-6), who committed five errors in the frame. Community (11-7) loaded the bases on a good bunt from Cooper Rohan and then the hits came more frequently.
Baseball seniors along with track and field seniors (some for baseball and track) were recognized after the varsity game.
Community plays May 13 in the Class 1 District 9 tournament at 6:30 p.m. against Wellsville-Middletown (0-15).
