The Mexico High School Academic Team went back-to-back this season.
For the second straight year after its first ever state appearance, Mexico was sent off to the state tournament on Saturday at Memorial Union at the University of Missouri in Columbia. The team hosted a breakfast that began at 8:30 a.m. at the high school before departing around 10 a.m.
Mexico is ranked first in the state and 13th nationally and is coming off a third-place state finish last year. As of 3:04 p.m. according to its Facebook page, Mexico advanced to the championship game after a 620-130 victory over Jefferson City. It faces Priory for the title at 3:30 p.m.
