12th Circuit Court receives award

The 12th Circuit Court has received the Permanency Award from the Supreme Court of Missouri for excellence in service to children and families. The award recognizes the Circuit Court’s consistent timely hearings for child abuse and neglect cases.

The court’s Presiding Judge is Jason Lamb. Judge Kelly Broniec served as the circuit’s Juvenile Division judge for the past 14 years. Judge Broniec was recently appointed by Gov. Mike Parson to the Missouri Court of Appeals.

“Thanks to Judge Broniec and the Juvenile Office staff, these critical cases have received the attention they deserve in a timely manner,” said Judge Lamb. “We are also fortunate to have a strong commitment from our family support teams from the Children’s Division and the local attorney team members.”

Lamb adds that the circuit made ensuring the safety and well-being of children a shared priority.

While the award reflects pre-COVID-19 cases, the Court has continued to hear cases involving the neglect or abuse of children during the pandemic.

The award will be displayed at the Montgomery County Courthouse in honor of Judge Broniec’s contributions to the local juvenile justice system.
