The Mexico Area Family YMCA recently held their annual Thanksgiving Turkey Trot 5K race. They had 56 runners registered which included seven teams registered in the family division. More than a dozen participated in the 1.5 mile Stuffing Strut Walk.
Sponsors for the Turkey Trot were United Credit Union, Moser's, Becks Bean Creed Seed Company and Graphitti.
The top three male and female overall winners, who received a turkey, were first place, Lyric Ford 21:54 and Alex Dukes 16:48; second place, Sarah Ogar 22:13 and Dawson McCown 18:07; third place, Anne Baker 23:36 and Thomas Peuster 20:17.
First place family team was “The Bergtholds” Casey, Ashley, Blaine and Mason.
The top three male and female finishers in each age group were also awarded prizes. First place won a pumpkin pie, second place won a bag of potatoes, and third place won a box of stuffing.
First place winners for 12 and under were Myah Wolfe 34:49, Mason Bergthold 25:24; 13-19 Anna Fairchild 26:44, Tyler Grimes 20:51; 20-29, Sarah Ogar 22:13, Mitchell Hunsberger 21:02; 30-39, Ashley Bergthold 24:19, Casey Bergthold 21:45; 40–49, Lucy Wright 28:26, Jim Dwyer 23:54; 60-69, Rose Myers 28:04, Steve Cutforth 24:00.
Second place winners for 12 and under were Jack Wilburn 26:06; 13–19, Sidney Turlington 26:44, Andrew Peuster 23:34; 20-29 Rosanna McKeown 26:44, Jacob Queathem 25:40;30-39 Terry Dwyer 28:19, Doug Wright 21:58; 40–49 Leslie Dickherber 33:52, Kevin Wilburn 26:07; 50–59 Robin Bell 32:27, NT Cosby 23:50; 60-69 Kelly Cutforth 32:35.
Third place for 12 and under were Owen Wilburn 33:224; 13-19 Madeline Dwyer 28:08, Geoffrey Penn 23:42; 20-29 Helena Fairchild 26:45, Jacob Bell 32:21; 30-39 Melissa Buckman Young 30:20, James Beahan 33:50; 40–49 Callie Wilburn 39:19, Greg Sorenson 35:13; 50–59 Matthew Penn 31:13.
