Alan Leon Blakemore, 74 of Clark died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, at the Sturgeon Christian Church, burial with full military honors will follow the service in Mt. Horeb Cemetery in Sturgeon.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Wednesday.

Alan was born on Nov. 11, 1947 in Mexico, the son of Edward Leon and Joyce (Ronimous) Blakemore.

Alan was a graduate of Sturgeon High School, then attended A. B. Moler Barber School in St. Louis.

Alan married Betty Stewart on April 6, 1968 in Sturgeon, and she survives.

Alan served his country in the United States Army, and was stationed in Germany during some of his time in the service.

Along with his wife Betty, Alan is survived by his daughters, Megan Blakemore of Fayette, Morgan Robinson of Columbia; grandchildren, Dalton Collins, Ranajah Smith, Berkeley and Brock Robinson; brother, Paul Blakemore and wife Debbie of Sturgeon; sister, Suzi Embree and husband Doug of Sturgeon; many nieces and nephews.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Ashley Leon Blakemore; a brother and sister-in-law, Mark Blakemore and wife Sallie.

Alan worked as a barber for several years, then worked at 3M for 39 years, retiring in 2008. After his retirement he went to work for the Roadway division of 3M as an inspector, he traveled to many places for that job.

He was a car enthusiast, enjoying sprint cars and drag cars. Alan was considered a collector of many things.

Alan liked to hunt and fish, but truly loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He really loved watching his grandchildren play sports.

Alan was a member of the Sturgeon Christian Church and the Eagles Lodge in Columbia.
