Area experiences rash of auto accidents

Wentzville woman injured

Janet M. Stevenson-Yates, 66, of Wentzville, sustained moderate injuries in a one-vehicle accident at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15 on Janice Drive in Kingdom City. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when the 2015 Toyota Camry, driven by Stevenson-Yates, travelled off the right side of the road and struck a ditch while making a U-turn.

Stevenson-Yates was transported by ambulance to University Hospital. She was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

Mexico man injured in two-vehicle accident

Caleb P. Marquette, 35, of Mexico, sustained moderate injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 12:03 p.m. on Missouri 15, three miles south of Paris, Monroe County on Friday, Oct. 15.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when the southbound 2020 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Clinton M. Youse, 39, of Paris, stopped to turn into a private driveway. The southbound 2006 Dodge pickup, driven by Marquette, struck the Chevrolet.

Marquette was taken to University Hospital in Columbia by Monroe County ambulance.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. The vehicles received moderate damage and were towed from the scene.

Rocheport woman airlifted after accident

Lauren P. Herschbach, 21, of Rocheport, sustained serious injuries in a one-vehicle accident at 9:05 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16 at Missouri 22 near Audrain Road 898.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when Johnathan R. Fowler, 22, of Lake Ozark, lost control while driving westbound in a 2000 Porsche 911 while attempting to pass another vehicle at a high rate of speed. The Porsche traveled off the right side of the road and struck an embankment.

Herschbach was taken to University Hospital by helicopter. Fowler sustained moderate injuries and was also flown to University Hospital. Both were wearing seatbelts. The vehicle received extensive damage and was towed from the scene.

Mexico resident injured in one-vehicle accident

Cassandra L. Bail, 44, of Mexico, sustained minor injuries in a one-vehicle accident at 6:25 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 14 on Highway 54, east of Callaway County Road 1048. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occured when the eastbound 2019 Dodge Challenger Bail was driving traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a tree, and overturned. She was wearing a seatbelt at the time. 

Bail was taken to University Hospital by ambulance. The Challenger was totaled and towed from the scene.

Callaway accidents

Grace E. Deal, 24, of Columbia, sustained minor injuries during a four-vehicle accident at 1:05 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 13 on I70 eastbound, just west of mile marker 153.4, Callaway County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, traffic was stopped due to a previous accident when an eastbound 2014 Freightliner, driven by James L. Patterson, 55, of Palmdale, Calif., struck the rear of the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Deal; as well as a 2008 Honda Accord, driven by David S. Depriest, 24, of Kansas City; and a 2018 Peterbilt, driven by Richard L. Powers, 63, of Lexington, Kan., before coming to a rest and blocking both lanes of traffic. 

The Peterbilt received moderate damage but was able to be driven from the scene; the other vehicles were towed. Deal was transported to University Hospital. All drivers were wearing seatbelts.

Austin W. Ohara, 18, of Kimberling City, sustained minor injuries in a one-vehicle accident at 2:50 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17, on Route CC, .5 miles north of County Road 460, Callaway County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when the southbound 2006 Toyota 4Runner, driven by O’Hara, travelled off the right side of the road, struck a tree and overturned. O’Hara, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported by Callaway County EMS to Capital Region Medical Center.

Dominic L. Perrigo, 29, of Columbia, sustained minor injuries in a one-vehicle accident at 3:37 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 17 on eastbound 170, just west of mile marker 159.6, Callaway County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when the 2014 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by Perrigo, travelled off the left side of the roadway and struck the median cable. The vehicle came to a rest in the median facing east. The vehicle caught fire and became fully engulfed in flame. Perrigo, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, was taken to University Hospital by Callaway County EMS.
