On Friday, Oct. 15 at approximately 4:31 p.m. the Mexico Public Safety Department (MPSD) learned of a vehicle that had been stolen from the 100 block of N.Jefferson.  The vehicle was later located on Venus Street and a suspect was identified.

Monday, Oct. 18 at approximately 4:40 a.m., MPSD learned of another vehicle being stolen in the 1200 block of E. Jackson. The Callaway County Sheriff’s Department located this vehicle in Callaway County before the Mexico resident realized it was missing. The occupants of the stolen vehicle from Mexico were believed to have been involved in numerous thefts in Callaway County, and the suspect from the theft on the 15th was identified as one of the occupants. The two agencies continued the investigation with assistance from the Audrain County Sheriff’s Department.

At approximately 12:17 p.m., MPSD arrested Chase M. Hatfield in the 1000 block of Wade St. for his involvement.  A short time later, the Audrain County Sheriff’s Department (ACSD) arrested Eric S. Mackey for his involvement.

Both were processed at MPSD and taken to Callaway County by the Callaway County Sheriff’s Department.
