Arthur Fred Daume Jr. of Mineola passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at his home surrounded by family.
Art was born February 23, 1947 in Bellflower, Missouri to Arthur and Esther Kraichely Daume. He married Gayle Corrinne Winfrey on June 13, 1970 in Buckner, Missouri. They enjoyed nearly 55 loving years of marriage before his passing.
Art graduated from Montgomery County High School in 1965 then went on to receive his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri at Rolla. He began his career working for Illinois Power Company before returning to Montgomery City in 1973 to start an electrical business. He later added grain handling and storage to the business, Missouri Farm Systems, working side by side with Gayle. He served the farming community tirelessly for the past 52 years. Art was known for his resourceful mind and the ability to get anyone out of a predicament.
Art also raised cattle, which he enjoyed immensely when they weren't out on Highway J. He loved to hunt, fish, garden and spend time with family and friends in the outdoors. After retiring, Art and Gayle enjoyed overwintering in the south.
Art is survived by his wife Gayle of the home; children: Erica Daume of Sherburne, New York, Jill (John) Wortmann of Auxvasse and Darrin Daume of Montgomery City. Four grandchildren: Mason Wortmann and fiancé Maureen of Martinsburg, Layne Wortmann of Mexico, Cooper\ Wortmann of Auxvasse, Kaylee Daume of Montgomery City and one sister Mary Foster of Montgomery City.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 6, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 at Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, Missouri.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at the funeral home. Pastor Brian Larkin will officiate the services. Interment will follow at the Bellflower Cemetery.
