A total of 7,546 ballots were cast by registered voters in Audrain County in the Tuesday, November 8th General Election. It was a 49.85% voter turnout in the county.

Audrain County Clerk Lisa Smith says "We had a lot of people come out to vote that hadn’t voted in a while and had moved to different addresses than what we had in our system.  So election judges had a lot of address changes to do and some voters had to go to a different precinct than they would have been at their old address.  We only had 4 Provisional Ballots that were voted.  These ballots for the people who wanted to vote but did not have the valid photo ID.  That low number did not surprise me because most of the voters in Audrain County used their photo ID before the law was passed.  It was a very busy day and my election judges were worked hard.  It’s a very long day and when it is as busy as we were it’s tiring.  I hope my election judges are getting some rest today. I can certify the election any time after noon on Friday the 11th.  Since that day is a holiday for the Courthouse I will have a team come in on Monday the 14th and certify the election."

Even there were many hotly contested races nationwide, several ran unopposed in Audrain. Kent Haden, Linda Hamlet, Alan Winders, Leslie Meyer, Lisa Smith, Megan D. Miller, Teresa Allen, Patty Meyers, Jacob Shellabarger, Amy Lecount all ran unopposed for their respective offices.

How did Audrain County vote on the statewide the amendment to legalize recreational marijuana?

Amendment 3 legalizes the purchase, possession, consumption, use, delivery, manufacture, and sale of marijuana for personal use for adults over the age of 21. It would allow for personal possession up to three ounces. It prohibits marijuana facilities from selling cannabis-infused products shaped or packaged as candy that may be attractive to children.

The amendment also allows individuals with certain marijuana-related offenses to petition for release from prison or parole and probation and have their records expunged.

A 6% tax on the retail price will be enacted.
