Jesse Fennewald pitched a gem, Ty Prince and Hunter Woolfolk drove in runs and the Bulldogs pummeled visiting Moberly 10-0 on Monday.

Mexico’s three seniors each contributed to the onslaught on Monday, which happened to be senior night at the ballpark. But it was also an important step for the team as the postseason looms.

“I feel like that was a good game to get us going into districts,” Fennewald said.

The team is 10-11 on the season, shaking off a costly four game slump during the last weeks of April with two wins in the last four played.

Mexico bats exploded in the bottom of the second. Daeye Miller lashed a single to center then swiped second and third. Tyler Thoenen knocked him home.

But that was just the start.

Perhaps rattled by the turn of events, Moberly hurler Cael Head. He walked four Bulldogs – Ty Sims, Landon Kleinsorge, Woolfolk and Ty Prince – conceding two more runs. Woolfolk stole home to cap off a four run spree.

Mexico added four more in the third. Again it was Miller starting things off with a triple and scoring on a Thoenen grounder. Sims drew a walk and courtesy runner Brock Smythe came across on an error. Kleinsorge walked, Woolfolk singled and then hits by Brayden Dunn and Prince drove them home.

Fennewald gave up just one hit. Will Dobyns finished out the game as the 10 run rule took effect.

Mexico faced battle at home on Wednesday. District play begins on Tuesday and players say the prospects are in their hands.

“How well we do depends on how much effort we put into it,” Woolfolk said.
