Car smashes into house

Two vehicle accidents took place on Mexico streets Thursday evening within a half an hour of each other. But one was far more dramatic than the other.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m. Steven Stockdall, 35 of Jefferson City, was driving north on Morris Street. His 2005 Mercury collided with a 2006 Buick, which police say was stopped in the intersection of Morris and Buchanan streets. Shelby Ludovicy, a 19-year-old from Mexico, was behind the wheel.

The impact forced Stockdall’s car to careen off the street and into the front of a house, causing significant structural damage.

Four people were inside the house. Mary Schaefer, 33, Dalasha Dorsey, 17, Tristan Jones, 20 and Anntravea Dorsey, 25, were taken to Audrain Community Hospital and treated for injuries.

Mexico Public Safety Officers responded. They did not report on the condition of the drivers.

A half hour earlier, two vehicles collided at the intersection of N. Jefferson and Summit streets. MPSD officers report that Stephanie Phillips, 53 of Mexico, pulled onto Jefferson and collided with a Nissan driven by Rodney Thomas, 25 of Mexico.

Both were treated at Audrain Community Hospital and released.
