The Lady Panthers secured their first double-digit winning streak on Tuesday with a 53-38 victory at Southern Boone.
Once again, Centralia (21-3) was able to pull away in the second half after trailing 12-11 after the first quarter. The Lady Panthers had the 20-17 halftime lead before outscoring the Lady Eagles (16-8) 33-21 in the second half.
Braylin Brunkhorst led with 17 points and five rebounds, Jozelynn Bostick followed with 13 points and five rebounds, Annie Robinson finished with eight points, and Raegan Anderson and Harper Sontheimer each had five points with Sontheimer also having five rebounds and one charge taken.
Centralia (4-2 CCC) hosts Clarence Cannon Conference for Clark County (3-20, 0-6 CCC) for Senior Night at 6 p.m. Friday before wrapping up the regular season at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Hallsville (14-9).
It was revealed recently that the Class 4 District 8 tournament in Centralia has the Lady Panthers as the No. 1 seed. They will face the winner of Kirksville (12-11) and Macon (9-15) at 6 p.m. March 2.
The boys have alternated wins and losses the previous three games, including a 73-44 loss at Southern Boone on Tuesday. The Panthers are the No. 5 seed in the boys’ Class 4 District 8 tournament in Moberly that will face Hallsville (17-6) at 6 p.m. Feb. 27. After its Senior Night game Friday against Clark County, Centralia will face the Indians in a preview game at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Hallsville.
