Ross finds shot in girls’ 62-37 win at Hannibal

Morgan Ross was feeling it from beyond the arc.

The Centralia junior hit five 3-pointers, scoring 24 points, and two other Lady Panthers finished in double figures to win 62-37 at Hannibal on Monday night.

Raegan Anderson followed with 12 points and three assists, Braylin Brunkhorst had 10 points and six rebounds, Annie Robinson finished with eight points and seven rebounds, and Jozelynn Bostick had seven assists, six rebounds and two steals.

The Lady Panthers took a 15-8 lead after the first quarter, then a 32-20 lead at halftime and 49-27 advantage after three quarters.

Centralia (11-2, 0-1 CCC) plays at Clarence Cannon Conference foe Palmyra (11-3) at 6 p.m. Friday in a matchup between teams that received votes in the latest state polls.

Robinson, Lady Panthers gain edge late in 51-46 win at Russellville

The Centralia girls’ game was about even Friday night through two quarters in Russellville.

The Lady Panthers trailed 25-24 at halftime prior to a 13-9 third quarter giving them the edge they held onto for the 51-46 victory and their fourth straight win.

Annie Robinson was about perfect from the field as she led Centralia (10-2) with 19 points and eight rebounds while going 6-for-6 from the field and 7-for-8 from the free throw line. Morgan Ross followed with nine points, and Kaelyn Walters and Jozelynn Bostick each had five points.

Cameron Grayson and Ella Volkert each led Russellville (4-7) with 11 points.

Boys effective down stretch in 62-58 win vs Boonville

The Centralia boys felt like they needed a win like this.

After losing an overtime game at Bowling Green the previous week, the Panthers were able to come back from a halftime deficit to defeat Boonville 62-58 at home on Monday.

Boonville took a slim 29-27 lead into halftime before the game was knotted at 44 going into the fourth quarter. Head coach Scott Humphrey said the Panthers played how they needed to in crunch time to win.

This was a very good win for us and probably our most complete game all year,” Humphrey said. “We shot the ball well from the free throw line 15-of-20 and played outstanding down the stretch.”

Cullen Bennett led with 16 points, six rebounds and four assists, Noah Kropf followed with 12 points and eight rebounds, and Boen Zimmerman had 12 points and five assists.

Panthers’ second quarter sinks them in 71-60 loss at Russellville

Centralia possibly had its worst quarter of the season on Friday in Russellville.

The Panthers were outscored 26-8 in the second quarter to fall behind 42-29 at halftime and lost 71-60 despite bouncing back with a 17-11 third quarter.

Head coach Scott Humphrey said the second half was much better for Centralia, but the second quarter just did too much damage and “seemed to be never-ending.”

“I thought once we settled down in the second half and started to play at our pace, we competed,” Humphrey said. “That was as bad of a quarter as we have had all season.”

Jack Romine led the team in scoring with Boen Zimmerman at 14 points and also had seven rebounds and two steals. Noah Kropf followed with 10 points, and Zimmerman had a double-double by also finishing with 11 rebounds along with three blocks.
