Centralia serves up big runs in sweep of Mexico

District opponents Centralia and Mexico met again on Monday on Gary Filbert Court in Mexico after going five sets last season in Centralia. The Lady Panthers won that meeting and were able to sweep this year's match (25-11, 25-11 and 25-14. In every set, Centralia (12-4) went on a massive run that Mexico (3-16-1) couldn't recover from, going 17-1 to close the first set, 12-0 in the middle of the second set and taking the third set thanks to an 8-0 run in the middle of the set. During those first two runs, freshman Ryenn Gordon was serving as she recorded five serices aces to lead the Lady Panthers, Madilynn Hunter had 11 kills, Addison Mabrey had four solo blocks and an assisted one with Raegan Anderson, and Lexi Cook finished with 28 assists. For Mexico, JaClynn Cline had five kills and two service aces, and Lizzie Joiner added two aces.

Mexico hosts Southern Boone (10-5-1) at 6 p.m. Thursday while Centralia plays to Montgomery County (8-7-3) at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
