Color Run uplifts for second time

Runners of all age groups were adorned with the colors of the rainbow Saturday.
Uplift Mid-Mo, a local Christian organization that raises money for people in need, held its second Color Run (or walk) at Teal Lake Shelter in Mexico. This year, participants were timed and awards were presented to the top five times in two age groups: younger than 12 and 12 and older.

Last year, Uplift Mid-Mo had more than 100 people participate and raised more than $4,200 that went to supporting people who need assistance with expenses such as rent and other housing payments. This year, the Color Run brought in more than 100 again this year with fundraising estimated to be around $4,500 this time around as they had brought in about $4,300 by the day of the event but then had some late registrants Saturday morning.

The event had more than 20 business sponsors and six Audrain County church partners that helped douse participants as they passed checkpoints positioned on the 3.1 mile course (with people having the option to stop after one or two miles). Centennial Baptist Church, Consuming Fire Ministries, First Presbyterian Church, Genesis Church, Union Baptist Church and Victory Christian Fellowship were the six Mexico churches that attended.

The first-place time in the younger than 12 group was 25:03 and the top time in the 12 and older group was 21:20.
