Paige Meyer took third in the high jump competition, Brianna Beamer finished third in the 800 meter run and Dylan Hoyt earned a pair of fourth place finishes as Community R-6 took part in a track meet in Harrisburg on Friday.
The event drew teams from across the region, including Paris and Centralia. The Panthers’ Kaylie Ensor won the girls pole vault round, clearing eight feet, six inches.
Hoyt crossed the line just seven seconds back of winner Blaine Broderson of Stover in the 1,600 meter run, finishing just outside the top three in a tight pack. He repeated the feat in the 3,200.
Clayton Brandt of Community picked up a top 10 in javelin with a throw of 101-06.25.
On the girls side, Beamer’s time of 2:45.88 in the 800 run put her in third, within sight of first place finisher Jaclyn Sexauer of Father Tolton. Lily Stidham of Centralia took fourth.
Meyer was just a fraction off a win in the high jump. She cleared 4-08.00, shy of Harrisburg’s Carli Ellis, who won with a height of 4-09.75.
Emmi Johnson came in sixth in the javelin throw, landing at 85-08.00. Victoria DiSalvo finished seventh in the 100 meter hurdles.
There were notable performances in many events. Maelea Parris of Centralia crossed fifth in the 100 dash and sixth in the 200. The Panthers’ Gretchen Marriott earned fifth in the 1,600 run, Katie Carrico finished in the same position in the 300 hurdles and Olivia Adams was fifth in pole vault.
Community’s Olivia Kuda finished just outside the top 10 in shot put.
Paris fared well in the boys events. Brock Miller finished second in the pole vault ahead of Centralia’s Jesse Shannon. Reese Barton of Paris took silver in the high jump. Brock Miller and Drew Williams ran fourth and fifth in the 800.
Centralia’s Beau Hatton had a notable outing – sixth in the 300 hurdles, sixth in the high jump and ninth in the pole vault.
Community’s Aaron Carter and Clayton Brandt wound up 11th and 12th in a crowded shot put field.
