Donald (Donnie) Gale Chatman, age 58, of Vandalia, passed away at 2:25 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1, 2021, at University Hospital in Columbia.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at the First Baptist Church of Vandalia. Pastor Samual Lee will officiate. Burial will be in the Vandalia Cemetery following the service.

A visitation celebrating the life of Donald (Donnie) Gale Chatman will be held at 9 a.m. until the time of service.

Donald (aka Clark) was born Sept. 29,1962, in Louisiana, to Mary Chatman and Theodore Norton. He was a student of the Louisiana High School. Donnie moved to Vandalia, where he married his love Sharon Chatman of 26 years, but a total of 42 years together. She survives him at home. They were blessed with one child, Donnie DeCarrMicheal Chatman (Charlene Main) of Mexico. Also three grandchildren, Kiara, Tobias and Payton Chatman.

He is also survived by Billy Chatman of Jefferson City, Delores (Roosevelt) Burse of Louisiana, James (Theresa) Chatman of Colo., Gloria Williams of St. Charles, Brenda (Mark) Wade of Columbia, Cheryl (Ralph) Reynolds of Peoria, Ill., Melody Chatman of Louisiana, Bernard Kent (Latanya) Chatman of Louisiana, and a host of nieces and nephews. Donnie thought the world of Berta May and Clifford Berry as they did him too.

Donnie was preceded in death by his father, Theodore Norton; grandparents, Johnny and Gertie Chatman of Louisiana; two brothers, Larry and Richard Chatman; also, Clifford and Berta Mary Berry.

Donnie worked at the Mexico Plastics Company in Mexico, for 30 years. Donnie loved playing golf with friends and family. He was so happy when he played in the Thanksgiving 2020 golf tournament at Eagles Bluff in Clarksville, with his brother Kent and got his first eagle. He also enjoyed playing in the APA pool league that he's played with since 2012 winning many awards. Donnie Loved being around family and friends. He's always spending a lot of time with his son, Donnie, three grandchildren, Kiara, Tobias and Payton Chatman. Also he loved to grill. He also enjoyed taking pictures of bald eagles.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Chatman, Larry Greene, David Davis, Joe Holt, Tobias Chatman, Darrell Chatman and Jerome Collier.

Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Evans, Anthony Chatman, Tyrone Chatman, Timmy Scott, Payton Chatman and Kiara Chatman.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family of Donald G. Chatman, in care of Waters Funeral Home.
