Donald W. Conklin

Donald W. Conklin, 89, of Mexico passed away Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022 at Mexico Veterans Home.

Donald was born in Mexico on October 22, 1933 the son of Edgar A. and Anna (Erdel) Conklin. Donald graduated from Mexico High School in 1951 before enlisting in the United States Air Force and serving during the Korean War. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged as a buck sergeant in December 1955.

Donald was a self-employed, accomplished welder. Before his retirement, he was employed at the Missouri Livestock Center in Mexico. His hobbies were hunting, elk hunting in Montana, fishing and woodworking.

He was a member of Kentucky Road Christian Church.

Survivors include one son, Newton Conklin of Kalispell, Mont., a daughter, Dianna Throckmorton (Allen) of Hot Springs, Mont., two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, siblings Doris Ash of Montgomery City, Albert Conklin, Lonabe Brisbin, Maryanna Mackey, Frances (Charles) Thomas, all of Mexico,. Martha Plumlee of Temple, Texas, Karen (Sterling) Holbrook of Farber, Bill (Janice) Conklin of Theodosia, one sister-in-law Norma Conklin of Mexico and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jack Conklin.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
