The Mexico Department of Public Safety was called to the 900 block of E. Liberty on Wednesday, June 2, at 7 p.m. regarding a dumpster being on fire in the back of the building.
Arriving officers found that a large dumpster was in fact in flames. The fire was quickly extinguished and the dumpster was moved away from the building.
The cause of the blaze is currently undetermined.
That evening shortly after 10 p.m., MPSD fire crews arrived at the 500 block of E. Central Street in to douse a kitchen fire. The resident had begun cooking then fell asleep. Officers report the resident woke to find the house full of smoke and notified MPSD. The situation was made safe before there was any damage to the home.
There were no injuries from either incident.
