Earnest E. Ferguson, 93 of Centralia, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2020 at the Stuart House in Centralia.
Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m Thursday, Dec. 31, at Fenton-Kendrick Funeral Home in Centralia, burial with full military honors will follow in Glendale Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
To those attending the visitation and service, it is asked that a face mask be worn, and maintain social distancing. Those attending are to be aware that capacity and seating may be limited. Guidelines set forth by Boone County will be followed.
Earnest was born on April 15, 1927 in Hatton the son of Hilary Clyde and Helen (Morris) Ferguson.
Earnest served his country in the United States Marine Corp from 1946-1947 then served in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1954.
On May 31, 1953 in Luton, England Earnest married the love of his life, Shirley Bruton, and she preceded him in death on April 11, 2019.
Earnest is survived by; his daughters, Sharon Eisele (Eddie) of Dixon, Rita Ferguson of Centralia; grandchildren, Amber Friedli (Tyler) of Centralia, Brett Lodwick (Aissa) of Hill AFB, Utah, Jentri Shuck (Jesse) of Thompson, Suzanne Eisle of Devil’s Elbow, Chris Eisle (Jessica) of Springfield; great-grandchildren, Lexi, Addy Jo, Luke, Reiko, Brystol, Jagger, Dilan, Kaelynn; sister, Margaret Jones and husband Clifford of Raytown.
Along with his wife, Shirley, Earnest was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lorene Davidson.
Earnie owned and operated Ferguson’s Garage for many years. He enjoyed mowing, doing landscaping, fixing anything he could, riding his tractor around town, and playing Harmonica.
Earnie was a city alderman for many years and also served on the cemetery board. He helped the community any way he could over the years.
He was very proud of his time in the service, and very proud of his country and its flag, always making sure his flag was flying high at his home.
Earnie truly loved his wife Shirley and loved all the time he spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was known for making the grandkids banana milkshakes when they came to his house.
