A couple Indians had already been recognized for their efforts this football season, but a couple more hadn’t seen their names listed yet.
Junior defensive back Nikos Connaway and junior linebacker Gage Gibson were named to the Class 1 District 2 team to follow their all-conference nods, and senior wide receiver Cody Smith and sophomore linebacker Dalton Hays also were named to the team.
Connaway had 37.5 tackles, forced two fumbles and made an interception on defense, and Gibson made a team-high 72 tackles along with three forced fumbles, two tackles for loss or sacks and two interceptions.
Hays recorded 30 tackles on defense.
Van-Far seldom threw the ball, but when it did, Smith made the biggest impact at receiver, collecting 199 yards on five catches.
Among Van-Far’s honorees on the Northeast Media all-district team were the punter Connaway and linebacker Gibson on the Class 1 first team. The duo were honored at the same positions on the Eagle 102 all-district team.
