Gertrude “Gert” Kasper, 95, of Bowling Green, formerly of Mexico, passed away at 5:45 p.m., Friday, Aug. 6, 2021, at Country View Nursing Facility in Bowling Green.

Funeral services will be private. She will be buried next to her husband at St. Brendan Catholic Cemetery in Mexico.

Gert was born in Carthage, Ill. on Feb. 11, 1926, the daughter of Walter and Marie (Lafeber) Murphy. On Aug. 30, 1944, in Lockport, Ill., she married William Francis Kasper. Mr. Kasper preceded her in death on April 17, 2014.

Mrs. Kasper was a homemaker and had also worked at several local grocery stores and at H&R Block. She was a member of St. Brendan Catholic Church.

Survivors include one son, Dale Kasper, of Moscow Mills; two daughters, Joanne Nelson (Kenny), of Mexico, and Kathy Smith (Darren), of Ashland; one brother, Joseph Murphy (Carol), of Columbia City, Ind.; six grandchildren, Kent Groves (Christina), of Mexico, Kara Jennings (Ryan), of Springfield, Jenna Frye (Brandt), of Nashville, Tenn., Chris Neale, of Mexico, Daniel Neale (Amy), of Ashland, and Kelli Neale (Rochara Knight), of Columbia; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Jean; and one sister, Rita Campbell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Brendan Catholic Church. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
