Brooklyn Glasgow knocked in six runs as the Community R-6 softball team opened with a convincing 17-2 win over Clopton in its Class 1, District 8 Tournament opener Wednesday.
Glasgow was one of three Trojans to have three hits in the contest joined by Sarah and Emma Angel.
Community, the second seed, advanced to face top-seeded Silex in Friday’s district title game at home. Results were not known by press time.
The Trojans collected 14 hits in the game. Glasgow tripled on a 2-2 count in the first inning to plate three runs. They added five more runs in the third inning, with Emma Angel and Emmi Johnson each having doubles and Glasgow recording her second triple in the frame.
Emma Angel also had a homer in the fourth. McCailyn Drainer and Johnson also had multiple hits in the win.
On the mound, Emma Angel earned the win. She allowed six hits and two runs.
