Glenn Russell Meador, Sr.

Glenn Russell Meador, Sr., age 72 years, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022 at General Baptist Nursing Home in Linn.

He was born on Feb. 1, 1950 in Mexico, Mo., the son of Raymond and Ethel (Foster) Meador.  He was married on Aug. 25, 1984 in Mexico, to Barbara (White) Meador who preceded him in death on Nov. 2, 2012.

A lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, Glenn graduated from Mexico High School in 1968.

He began his career at Crown Linen working as a salesman and truck driver in Mexico. Glenn then worked for 23 years as a corrections officer for the State of Missouri, he started with the Missouri State Penitentiary and later retired from Jefferson City Correctional Center.

He was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2693 in Jefferson City for years where he served as an Inside Guard.

From a young age, Glenn was an avid outdoorsman. He truly found peace in the outdoors and could often be found hunting or fishing for catfish at the Lake of the Ozarks. He cherished time with his family, friends and his three cats, especially when it was time spent rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals or watching westerns. Glenn was very knowledgeable and passionate about collecting coins. He never passed up an opportunity to examine a rare coin and was an avid collector. Glenn was a loyal friend to many who consider him family. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include: his son, Raymond Meador of Jefferson City.; stepson, Michael Rudd of Pullman; sister, Ellen Dickerson of Middleburg, Fla.; brother, Bobby Ray Meador (Sarah) of Mexico.; grandson, Andrew Meador of Wyoming; and nephew, Alan Roberts.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Barbara; son, Glenn Meador, Jr.; brother, Charles Meador; sister, Paula Collet; and the mother of his sons, Marcia Campbell.

Visitation was held Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Freeman Mortuary.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, April 28, in the Freeman Chapel with Rev. Trevor Dancer officiating. Graveside service and interment followed at Longview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
