Glenna Mae Gruer

Glenna Mae Gruer of Centralia, passed away in her home on April 21, 2022.  Glenna was 94 years old.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Friday, May 6, 2022 at Fenton-Kendrick Funeral Home in Centralia, with burial to follow in the Laddonia Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 5.

Glenna was born on May 19, 1927, to parents Marshall Lee and Oleatha Mae (Parrish) Moore in Laddonia.

Glenna married her first husband, Forrest E. Hancock on June 1, 1947, and they had a child, Helen K Hancock.  They divorced and she then met and later married Norman L. Schuster on March 27, 1981.  Following Norman’s death, due to cancer, she married former school friend Irvin F. Gruer on Jan. 16, 1999.  Irvin preceded her in death.

Glenna spent most of her working career at Johnny Londoff Chevrolet in Florissant, where she retired after 35 years.  She loved caring for others, spending time with her family including grandchildren, great grandchildren, being in the outdoors, and playing a mean game of canasta.  

As you may or may not know, a bigger St Louis Cardinals fan does not exist. She absolutely loved watching the Cardinals play baseball! 

Glenna was a member of the Centralia United Methodist Church.

Glenna is survived by her daughter, Helen Kay Naeger; grandchildren, Chad (Gagon) Naeger of LaCanada, Calif., and Nicole Witter of St. Charles, great-grandchildren, Grady Naeger, Grace Witter; stepchildren, Virginia Schuster of Minneapolis, Minn., Gregory Schuster (Dianne) of Troy, Kathy DeWald of Florissant, Mark Schuster (Tammy) of O’Fallon, Sue Heiman of Transitory, Fla.; 8 step-grandchildren, nine step-great-great grandchildren, one Step-great-great-grandchild; stepchildren, Connie Mellor (Glen) of Mt. Pleasant, Mich., Terry Gruer of Mexico, Kathy Crawford (David) of Mexico, Walter Gruer (Sabrina) of Mexico, Dale Gruer (Janet) of Davenport, Fla., Rhonda Gruer of Auxvasse; 25 step-grandchildren, 51 step-great-grandchildren, seven step-great-great-grandchildren; niece and nephew, Ben Alexander (Claudia), Glenda Gregory.   

Glenna was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, a son-in-law Tom Naeger, sister, Margaret Rae Kelley.

Glenna will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to be a part of her wonderful life.
