James E. “Jim” Stubblefield, 85, of Auxvasse, passed away on Thursday, July 29, at Fulton Medical Center in Fulton.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 7, at Grand Prairie Baptist Church in Auxvasse, with Pastor Eddie Schoenberg and Kevin Wilkerson officiating. Visitation is Saturday from 12 p.m. until time of service at the church.

Jim was born on Dec. 3, 1935, in Auxvasse, the son of Walter B. and Eunice (Womack) Stubblefield. On Sept. 20, 1958, in Reno, Nev., he married Shirley M. Quick. She survives.

Mr. Stubblefield started working for Pete Oliver in 1954. Jim continued working when the business was sold to Paul Hunt and then Audrain County Concrete until retiring in 2010.

Jim loved riding motorcycles and was a founder of the Lucky Wheels Motorcycle Club in Auxvasse. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and was a collector of many things. He was also known for his Sunday afternoon barbeques.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Stubblefield of the home; four children, James “Jay” (Carrie) Stubblefield of Laddonia, Janet (Kenny) Hudson of Auxvasse, Connie (Brad) Hagan of Mexico, and

Danny (Deanne) Stubblefield of Columbia; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren with one on the way, one great-great-grandchild with one on the way; and one sister, Ann Willard of Fulton.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter, Stephanie Olsson; and five siblings, Bud Stubblefield, Junior Stubblefield, Leroy Stubblefield, Bill Stubblefield, and Faye Giboney.

Memorial donations may be made to the Auxvasse Fire Department or Grand Prairie Baptist Church. They may be sent in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson, Mexico, MO 65265.
