John W. Jackson

Posted

John W. Jackson, (J.W. or Jay) at 5:05 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022 left this earth to be in the hands of God.  J.W. wasn’t a church going person, but believed in Jesus and His teachings.

J.W. was born on Aug. 24, 1949 in Wellsville.  He went to school in Wellsville, but got a G.E.D. later in life.

As a young man, he started working in the brick plants.  He finished his career and retired from National Refractories after 30 years.  After retirement from the brick plants, he drove a school bus for Mexico Public Schools (Bus 75) for 11 years and at the same time was a custodian at the Davis H. Hart Vocational school for 2 ½ years.  He was a great “bus driver”, dedicating time and patience to the children.

His favorite pastime was playing golf with his friends on Tuesday and Sundays or whenever they could play another round together.  He achieved four holes-in-one over the years.

He loved watching and attending St. Louis Cardinals baseball games.  He also enjoyed watching Kansas City Chiefs football games.  He was always wearing a red sports shirt, if possible, but always a sports shirt.

J.W. leaves his wife, Deborah E. (Rivers) Jackson; four children, Craig Jackson, Cassie Duty, Monica Ruiz and Johnna (Marty) Jackson; and nine grandchildren.

J.W. totally believed in passing it on, so any monetary donations can be made to Arthur Hills Golf Course Youth.

As per J.W.’s request and the increase in positive covid cases, no visitation will be held at this time.

Online condolences may be left at www.arnoldfh.com.
