Kathleen “Kay” Lucille Smith, 82, of Mexico, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at her home.

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 30 at Arnold Funeral Home with Pastor Rich Neely officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Kathleen was born on July 26, 1939, in Culver City, Calif., the daughter of Chester Cooper and Edith Matilda (Foreman) Carter. She married Russell “Gene” Smith on Sept. 29, 1957. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1996.

She is survived by three sons, Ronald Smith of Mexico, Russell “Rusty” (Angela) Smith of Washington and Robert Smith of Mexico; a daughter, Ronda Smith of Martinsburg; nine grandchildren, Christina, Billie Jean and Kip Smith, Michelle Fierge, Tonie, Ian and Parker Smith, Tember Mobley and Rebecca Worley; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three brothers, John (Georgia) Carter of Washington, Jerry Carter of Wentzville and Bob (Phyllis) Carter of St. Charles; sister, Pauline (Rick) Kuntz of Jefferson City; eight sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Smith; parents, Chester and Edith Carter; brother, Kenneth Carter; sister, Jacqueline Smith; seven brothers-in-law; and three sisters-in-law.
