Like many times this season, all four of Community R-6's seniors scored in a lopsided victory, defeating Marion County 16-1 in four innings on Senior Night in Laddonia and making it the 10th game the Lady Trojans have scored at least 10 runs. Paige Painter, Brooklynn Glasgow, Alyssa Beamer and Taylor Johnson each crossed the plate in a six-run second inning for the Lady Trojans, where Johnson scored on a Rylee Rafferty double, Beamer scored on a passed ball and Glasgow and Painter represented two of the runs on Painter's three-RBI home run.
Painter had four RBI and pitched seven innings with one hit and on unearned run in four innings, Glasgow scored three runs, walked twice and had a double, Beamer had one run and one walk, and Johnson walked twice and had one run. Other key performances included Rafferty finishing 3-for-4 with a triple, double and two RBI, Peyton Schafer had two RBI, Amy McCurdy went 2-for-3 with a RBI, and Jocelyn Curtis finished 3-for-4 with a double.
"We wouldn't be 21-7 without them," head coach Kendra Murphy, who is in her first-year with the Lady Trojans, said about the seniors. "They're a huge, huge part of this team. They are leaders on and off the field and do an excellent job of knowing their role, getting everybody else to know their role and just keeping everyone in-tune and engaged with the game. I haven't had this good a group of seniors in a while. I'm lucky to come in with a group like this."
