North Callaway dropped two out of three games on Saturday at the Centralia Invitational tournament but picked up an important victory.
The Class 2 No. 7 Ladybirds (18-9) lost 6-5 to California (9-12) and 23-6 to Hallsville (9-10) but beat Eastern Missouri Conference foe Wright City (7-15) 10-0 in five innings for head coach Mariah McKee's and assistant coach Kalyn Bradshaw's 100th career wins. North Callaway won five of the seven games they had last week while Megan Schmidt extended her streak of innings without allowing a run to 34. Schmidt collected 22 strikeouts and hit two home runs, and Kymorie Myers, Sophie Olsson and Mady Gordon each hit home runs for the Ladybirds.
North Callaway hosts three consecutive Centralia tournament champion and Class 3 No. 2 Centralia (19-4) at 6:30 p.m. Monday.
