At approximately 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, MPSD officers responded to the 5700 block of E. Liberty in reference to a riding lawnmower on fire. Responding personnel found the lawnmower completely engulfed in flame.
The fire was extinguished and had only minimally spread to the surrounding area. The cause was likely due to debris around the exhaust of the lawnmower. There were no injuries from this incident.
Earlier on Sunday, crews responded to the 1700 block of E. Anderson in reference to a natural cover fire. Some area residents had been burning items when the fire grew beyond their control due to the breezy, dry weather conditions.
The fire was extinguished with a couple of acres being burned and no personal property damaged. There were no injuries from this incident.
