Class 3 No. 2 Centralia 2 Class 2 No. 7 North Callaway 0 in Centralia
Two of the state pitcher's for two of the state's best teams faced each other on Monday. Class 3 state-ranked Centralia (20-4) beat Class 2 state-ranked North Callaway (18-10) 2-0 in a game with two combined hits. Recent Mizzou verbal commit Jaylynn Brown didn't allow any hits for Centralia while striking out 16 and walking two. Megan Schmidt allowed two hits for North Callaway while striking out seven and walking three in six innings. Schmidt's 37 inning streak without allowing run ended on the home run.
Claire Page walked to lead off the third inning before Madi Johnson hit a two-RBI home run. The Lady Panthers have won 20 games in two straight seasons and 18 in four straight.
Centralia plays at rival Hallsville (9-10) at 5 p.m. today, and North Callaway (7-1 EMO) plays at Eastern Missouri Conference foe Mark Twain (9-14, 1-6 EMO) at 5 p.m. today.
Class 2 No. 5 Montgomery County 8 Community R-6 7 in Montgomery City
Community (9-20) led a state-ranked opponent for most of Monday but couldn't close out a win at Montgomery County (23-3). The Lady Trojans had a 5-4 lead for for two innings before tacking on two runs in the top of the sixth inning before Montgomery County answered with three runs in the sixth and one run in the seventh inning. Montgomery County had five of its nine hits in the final two innings to win via walkoff despite Community finishing with 12 hits.
Peyton Schafer went 2-for-4 with one RBI and one double, Kaytlynn Arens had two RBIs and one double, and Maci Poindexter, Jocelyn Curtis, Myla Carroll and Chloe Johnson each had two hits and one RBI. Carroll allowed eight hits and eight runs (six earned) with five walks and two strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings.
Community plays at Louisiana (10-8) at 5 p.m. today.
Harrisburg 10 Class 2 No. 10 Paris 0 in Paris
Paris (17-2) took its lumps on Monday against Harrisburg (21-9). The Lady Coyotes wered held to one hit by Camryn Gray, who struck out six. Harrisburg collected nine hits against Reese Sutton and Ava Crain, who each allowed three unearned runs due to six errors. Crain had the only hit for Paris.
Paris plays at Canton (11-13) at 5 p.m. today.
Volleyball
Centralia 3 Mexico 0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-17) in Mexico
Centralia (6-14-1) earned its fourth three-set sweep of the season. Mexico (1-14) has lost two straight after its first win of the season at Chamois on Tuesday.
Claire Isgrig led Mexico with 11 digs and nine service aces along with three kills, Ava Herron finished with nine digs and three aces, Charley Jackson had five kills and three aces, Layla Belcher had eight digs and five kills, and Julia Goerne had nine digs.
Centralia plays at Montgomery County (2-16-1) at 6 p.m. today, and Mexico plays at Southern Boone (5-11-1) at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Centralia at CCC Tournament in Hannibal
The Centralia girls finished sixth in the Clarence Cannon Conference tournament at Norwoods Golf Course in Hannibal. The Lady Panthers shot a 446 and were led by second-place Emerson Eckler, who shot an 89 to earn first team honors, and 10th-place Kyla Spickert, who shot a 99 to earn second team honors.
Cross country
Centralia at CCC Cross Country Meet in Macon
Centralia won individual championships at all levels of the Clarence Cannon Conference meet in Macon. Katy Asbury won the varsity girls race with a time of 21:13, Nolan Spickert won the varsity boys race with a time of 16:12, Brooklyn Crites won the middle school girls race with a time of 12:54 and Wyatt Smith won the middle school boys race with a time of 12:35. The Centralia varsity and middle school boys both earned team championships with 27 points and 26 points, respectively.
Other varsity boys who earned all-conference honors included Wesley Robertson in third place with a time of 16:40, Jensen Decker in fourth place with a time of 17:20, Lane Chancellor in fifth place with a time of 17:22 and Zane Deckerd in 14th place with a time of 19:02.
