Marie Teuerle

Marie Teuerle, 78, of Mexico, passed away on Saturday, Dec.18, 2021, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.

A celebration of life will be from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022, at the Mexico United Methodist Church.

Marie was born on April 25, 1943 in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of James and Philomena (Giampovlo) DeGiacomo. On Feb. 24, 1962 in Chicago, she married Robert Charles Teuerle. He passed away on May 4, 2002.

Mrs. Teuerle graduated from Steinmetz High School in Chicago. She had been a certified nurse’s aide, farmwife and a stay-at-home mother. She loved taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marie attended Mexico United Methodist Church, where she was a greeter and served on the altar committee. She was also very active with AARP.

Survivors include her children, Robert Charles (Carmen) Teuerle, Jr. of Wheeling, Ill., Michael James (Tracy) Teuerle of Kenosha, Wis., Janet (Greg) Hansen of Lake St. Louis, and Margaret Holtkamp of Mexico; 13 grandchildren, John Barilani, Ashley Gielow, Hailey Bartilotta, Kelsey Teuerle, Samantha Rivera, Josh Fugate, Ashley Fugate, Nicole Fugate, Jessica Knicl, Emiley Huighe, Kristy Sertier, LeeAnn Holtkamp and Jacob Holtkamp; 19 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Josephine Larsen of Lake in the Hills, Ill.

In addition to her husband, Marie was preceded in death by her parents.
