A walk-off extra-inning loss in the first game of the Centralia Tournament Saturday stung the Mexico softball team.
But the Bulldogs didn’t let the setback ruin their day. They rebounded with victories over North Callaway and Putnam County led by their offensive attack. Overall, four players teamed up to hit seven homers in the three-game tourney.
Abby Oetting had two homers and three RBIs in the final game, a 10-4 triumph over Putnam County. Abby Bellamy had another big game at the plate, going 4 for 4 with three doubles and three RBIs, while Lexi Willer had two hits and scored twice.
The output backed the pitching of Eboni Mayfield who scattered four runs over seven innings.
Bellamy belted two homers and collected six RBIs in the second game of the tourney, a 10-9 win over North Callaway. Jordyn Thurman also went deep in one of her two hits in the game and had three RBIs.
Thurman and Mayfield each struck out four batters for Mexico.
