The Mexico softball team was eager to get back on the diamond at the end of the week following consecutive losses to Battle and Kirksville.
In Wednesday’s game, Battle broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to take control. The Spartans outhit Mexico 11-5 in the contest.
Jordyn Thurman had a team-high two hits for the Bulldogs. Abby Bellamy, Ruby Haefling and Kierstan Epperson also had hits.
Thurman took the loss for Mexico. She surrendered five runs on six hits over five innings, striking out five and walking one.
The Bulldogs fell 8-2 to Kirksville on Monday. The Tigers jumped ahead 3-0 in the opening inning and led 8-0 after the fifth. The Bulldogs broke the shutout in the seventh on a two-RBI
