The Mexico High School wrestling team competed in the Steve Leslie Invitational Dec. 3-4 at Pleasant Hill, with two wrestlers taking first. Here’s how the Bulldogs fared:

MHS’s Keegan Koons (4-2) placed fifth and scored 41.0 team points, defeating Lucas McMenemy of Clinton (3-3) by a fall.
Ricardo Juarez (7-0) placed first and scored 44.0 team points. Juarez won by decision over Conner Roach of Owensville by decision in round one, then defeated Gannon Lyons, Pleasant Hill in round two and Lane McCoy of Chillicothe in round three by falls.
Juarez won by fall over Hudson Strahm of Basehor-Linwood in round four and collected the round five win by forfeit over Aidan Bolinger of Blair Oaks.
In semifinal play he won by fall over Pleasant Hill’s Troy Gustin and collected first place by fall over Conner Roach of Owensville (5-2).
Watson Azdell (3-3) placed 10th and scored 25.0 team points.
Grant VanHorn (7-0) placed first and scored 40.0 team points, winning by fall over Landon Winkler, Basehor-Linwood in round one. VanHorn collected the round two win by decision over Nick Ripperger, Harrisonville and earned a round three bye. In round four, he won by fall over Devin Rabold, Eldon and advanced in round five, winning by forfeit over Aries Nicholas, Owensville.
During the semifinal round, he won by fall over Ty Rachinski, Kirksville, and fought his way to a first-place finish by decision over Nick Ripperger, Harrisonville (6-3).
Dylan Mosley (5-2) placed 2nd and scored 32.0 team points, advancing to the first-place match, where he lost by decision to Pleasant Hill’s Lane Snyder (7-0).
Keith Ransom (5-1) placed second and scored 55.5 team points, falling to Pleasant Hill’s Garrett Lyons (6-0) in the title match.
Cameron Beasley (4-2) placed 9th and scored 33.0 team points.
Emille Scanavino (5-1) placed second and scored 50.0 team points, falling to Bryce Kertz of Kirksville (6-0), losing by fall.
