MMA unable to bring runners home in regular season finale loss

Missouri Military Academy had a shot to win Tuesday's game at Community R-6 at the end. The Colonels loaded the bases with nobody out only for Mason Carroll to strike out the side to reach 13 strikeouts for the day to hand MMA a 4-2 loss to end the regular season. The Trojan righthander finished with five hits and one earned run allowed in seven innings. 

Noah Garcia came up with a two-RBI single for a 2-1 Colonel lead in the in the fifth inning, and William Delaplane pitched seven innings while finishing with seven hits, six strikeouts, four runs and two walks.

Before MMA (9-8) faces No. 4 seed North Callaway (14-7) as the No. 5 seed at 5 p.m. Friday in the Class 3 District 7 tournament at South Callaway in Mokane. Head coach Thomas Roberts said one of the team's top pitchers and cleanup hitter Hunter Manderson is likely out due to an injured foot.

"We still got a good chance because we have some arms we can throw at people," Roberts said. "Hopefully, that will help us next game."
