On Monday, Dec. 23 at 7:13 a.m., MPSD was dispatched to US Highway 54 Bypass in reference to a tractor trailer unit on fire. Upon arrival, officers found a 2000 Peterbilt loaded with corn on fire. The tractor portion of the unit was fully involved in fire and was extinguished by MPSD personnel. During salvage operations, the loaded trailer collapsed. The corn was offloaded so the trailer can be removed from the scene. The cause of the fire is still under investigation and there were no injuries as a result of this incident.
