The Mexico Ledger welcomed Jeremy Jacob to the staff last week as the newspaper’s new sports editor.
Jacob was most recently the sports editor for the Fulton Sun, a position he held since 2021. Prior to that, he was a page designer for the Fulton Sun, California Democrat and Jefferson City News Tribune from 2018-21. He obtained his journalism degree from Truman State University.
Jacob’s duties will include covering local high schools and athletes from the Ledger’s circulation area. These high schools include Mexico, Community R-6, Van-Far, North Callaway and Missouri Military Academy. He will also assist the news staff at times.
“We’re excited to have someone with Jeremy’s experience join our staff,” Publisher Tim Schmidt said. “Solid local sports coverage is a definite for a good community newspaper and this hire reaffirms our commitment to publish a locally-focused product highlighting our area sports programs and athletes.”
Jacob can be reached at sports@mexicoledger.com or calling 573-581-1111.
