There was little drama in last Thursday’s conference match-up between the North Callaway Thunderbirds and the Louisiana Bulldogs, as the Callaway girls successfully defended their home court, soaring to a 59-8 Senior Night victory. Callaway opened up with an 18-0 lead after the first quarter and they held Louisiana to only three first-half points.

All four Callaway seniors - Makenna Allen, Trinity Brush, Taylor Head and Hayley Kimbley -  started and each one scored for Senior Night. Allen had 10 points and added 5 steals; Brush had a double-double, with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Freshman Abrielle Burgher led all scorers with 20 points, including two 3-pointers.

“It’s always good to come away with a win on Senior Night,” said coach Morgan Beamer.

The win improves North Callaway to 1-4 overall and 1-1 in the Eastern Missouri (EMO) Conference. Louisiana fell to 0-5 overall and 0-3 in the EMO.

Cheerleader Layla Green was also honored during Senior Night ceremonies.

Callaway offense explodes vs. Paris

North Callaway shooters lit it up for 90 points Saturday in Mexico against Paris during Gary Filbert Tournament play. Callaway led 56-13 at the half and never looked back collecting the 90-29 win.

Weber led the Thunderbirds with 21 points, including four 3-pointers; Webb Langworthy had 18 points off the bench, also with four 3-pointers. Scrogum had 15 points and freshman Sam Pezold had 11 points and 6 rebounds off the bench. Cash had 9 points, 5 assists and 5 steals. Sophomore Braydn O’Neal led the team with 7 assists.

The win pulls Callaway to the .500 mark, at 4-4, entering the Christmas break.

“It was a good team effort,” said coach Matt Miller.

All 11 Callaway players got playing time in the contest.

Reese Barton led Paris with 11 points. Paris falls to 2-5 overall with the loss.

Callaway girls fall to Paris

The Callaway girls fell 34-27 to Paris Saturday in Gary Filbert Tournament play in Mexico , dropping to 1-5 overall for the season. Callaway mounted an impressive 9-point flurry in the third quarter to pull within a point, but couldn’t overcome the deficit.

Kyanne Kellerman led Callaway with 8 points and 11 rebounds, adding 5 steals.

Nicole Skinner had 14 points for Paris.

“The girls played hard,” said coach Morgan Beamer. “Our shots just didn’t fall.”
