Brooke Giboney’s first year wrestling for North Callaway came to an end.
The freshman was eliminated on Saturday of the Class 1 District 2 Tournament at North Point High School in Wentzville after being edged in a 6-4 decision by Hallsville’s Candace Calvert during the fourth round of wrestlebacks.
Calvert finished the 105-pound bracket as the third-place wrestler, and Giboney was pinned by district champion Alyssa King, of St. Charles, on Friday during the second round.
Giboney received three byes during the tournament but fought hard in her elimination match on Saturday morning. After reaching a tie at 0 to end the first period and trailing 4-3 heading into the final period, Giboney managed one escape in the final two minutes but a reversal allowed Calvert to advance.
