Mitten, Crusha lead Paris to regular season finale win at Sturgeon
Paris ended its regular season with a winning record.
The Lady Coyotes won 10-0 in six innings at Sturgeon (1-18) in their regular season finale, finishing with 11 hits and a 11-10 record. Knightlee Mitten and Sophia Crusha each finished with two hits and two RBI, and Mitten had two doubles and Crusha added a double.
Mitten plated all her RBI on her doubles as two crossed in the third inning , making it 2-0, and one was added in the fourth inning for a 3-0 lead. Crusha’s double scored two runs in the fifth inning for a 5-0 lead.
Kennedy Ashenfelter pitched six innings with five strikeouts, one hit and one walk.
The bracket hasn’t been released yet, but Paris will play in the Class 1 District 5 Tournament next week.
Lady Coyotes shut out 9-0 by state champion Canton
Paris couldn’t do much against the state champions on Tuesday.
The Lady Coyotes lost 9-0 at reigning Class 1 champion Canton (16-10), finishing with four hits. The Lady Tigers had all of the runs they needed with a four-run first inning and then a three-run third against Reese Sutton, who allowed 12 hits in six innings pitched.
Knightlee Mitten finished with two hits to lead Paris, and Sutton and Sophia Crusha each had a hit.
