Dustin Pascoe resigned from the Mexico Board of Education after 11 years of service. He submitted a letter of resignation following Tuesday's meeting.
"We want to thank Mr. Pascoe for his many years of service," board president Todd Yager said at a special meeting held Thursday accepting the resignation and beginning the process of finding a replacement.
The board has posted notice of the vacancy. They are seeking a qualified person to fill the remainder of Pascoe's term, which ends in April of next year. Anyone interested can submit an application, which can be picked up at the Mexico School District Central Office or online.
At Thursday's special meeting the board agreed to a deadline of Oct. 11 for submissions. After that, the board may decide to review applications and nominate a replacement for the seat or select candidates to interview.
All discussions will take place in open session.
In his letter of resignation, Pascoe explained that he will soon be moving from Mexico, which would disqualify him from board duties.
"It has been a privilege to serve the students of this community," he noted. "I wish you all the best of luck."
