Area residents are being warned about a scam call going around.
According to a press release from Mexico Safety their department became aware of a scam on Wednesday, November 23, 2022. MPSD says "It consists of a person calling and pretending to be a detective with the “Mexico Police Department.” So far, the caller seems to be targeting professionals who often work with police departments and prosecutors. The caller tells the person that they missed a subpoena for court and now have an arrest warrant out. The caller then says they can take care of posting bond on the warrant over the phone.
These calls are scams and should be ignored. Do not give personal information or make any payments over the phone. MPSD does not attempt to serve warrants this way and people cannot post bond on a warrant over the phone.”
