Law enforcement officers made a second arrest in the June home invasion murder of Mexico resident Chance Davis. On the morning of Oct. 8, members of the U.S. Marshal’s Service, acting on a warrant, apprehended Sadiq J Moore, 25, in Columbia.

Police in Quincy, Illinois, nabbed Deyton Curtis-Fisher, 22, at the beginning of August.

Davis was killed in the early morning hours of June 27 after intruders forced their way into a home in the 800 block of West Street in Mexico and fired shots. He died at the scene and the three suspects fled.

Davis was 25 years old.

The suspects were initially traced to Quincy. On July 15, sheriff’s deputies in Illinois stopped a vehicle allegedly driven by the third suspect, Timothy S. Midgyett, Jr. Authorities indicated that the passenger appeared to be Moore. Midgyett drove away as the deputies attempted to identify the vehicle and officials lost track during the pursuit. Investigators then traced Moore to Columbia, where officers also spotted a person believed to be Midgyett, also 25.

Midgyett has a lengthy police record, which includes an attempt to escape from a Boone County jail in 2015 after an arrest on charges of domestic violence, theft, destruction of property and resisting arrest.

Several jurisdictions have been participating in the case. There remains an outstanding warrant on Midgyett. The Mexico Public Safety Department is continuing to work with the U.S. Marshals, the Audrain County Prosecuting Attorney and other law enforcement agencies across the state to get Midgyett in custody.
