Jerome A. Woelfel, 80, of Chilton, Wisconsin, sustained serious injuries in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday, June 1, at Highway 19 and Highway 54.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when Woelfel’s northbound 2018 Chevrolet Equinox was struck by the westbound 2020 Toyota C-HR, driven by Karen L. Tyler, 56, of Cloverdale, Indiana, causing the Equinox to overturn before coming to rest on its top on the northbound shoulder of Highway 19.
The passenger of the Equinox, Sharon K. Woelfel, 73, of Chilton, sustained minor injuries. Everyone involved was wearing their seatbelts.
The time of the accident was 11:20 a.m. The Woelfels were transported to Audrain Community Hospital by ambulance. Both vehicles received extensive damage and had to be towed from the scene.
