Moenaisa Sidique and Raef Yager are regulars at the top of the podium. On Friday at the NCMC tournament in Hannibal, Anthony Shivers also frequented the second step, and the Bulldogs put together a solid outing when it counted most.

Sidique ran a 59.78 in the 400 dash, outdistancing the nearest competitor by six seconds to take gold. She was also key in the first place 4X400 relay team that broke the string at 4:25.70. In this effort, Sidique was joined by Cora Ransom, Sidney Turlington and Alexis Smythe.

But Sidique put in the key leg. She made up 90 meters to bring home the win.

Smythe finished fourth in the 400. Anna Fairchild took home a third in the 3,200 meter run.

The Mexico boys were prominent on the leaderboard. And there were two close calls for gold.

Shivers and Kirksville’s Samuel Thomas ran essentially the same 11:49 time in the 100 meter dash, but the Tigers’ sprinter took the win, with Jordan Mitchell of Mexico in third.

In the 4x200 relay, the Bulldogs side of Keeley DiBlasi, Mitchell, Ian Williams and Shivers, finished just seven one hundredth behind the Hannibal foursome.

Yager had no problem in the high jump. After weeks hampered by a hip injury that held him just under six feet, he cleared 6’02.75, a full six inches above the nearest rival.

The pole vault was almost a Mexico lockout. Kaiser Greenwell of Hannibal won with a flight of 12’05.50. But the Bulldogs – Morgan Grubb and Benjamin Clampitt – took second and third.

Shivers and Mitchell were second and third in the 200 behind Thomas, to give Mexico points in the dash races. The 4x400 team of Morgan Grubb, Evan DiBlasi, Tyler Quinlan and Ian Williams crossed in second, as did the 4x800 crew of Quinlan, Thomas Peuster, Race Azdell and Meki Owens.

Quinlan took third in the 800 run. Evan DiBlasi added a fourth in the 400, a position held by Peuster in the 1,600 and Williams in the 300 meter hurdles.

Alex Wilson tossed the discus far enough for fourth. He pulled off the same result in the shot.

Guy Fairchild earned fifth in the 3.200. Kanye Nunnelly reached the top five in both the long jump and triple jump.

In the girls competition, Anna Fairchild’s time of 13”14.02 was good enough for bronze in the 3,200. Emma Nowlin took fifth in discus. And it was a happy day for the 4x800 team of Fairchild, Sidney Turlington, Kali Turlington and Sidique, which finished second.
