Brianna Beamer was within sight of a podium finish at the Class 1 state track championship on Saturday in Jefferson City.

The Community R-6 senior finished fourth in the girls 800 meters run won by Delaney Strauss of Marion County. Beamer completed two circuits in a time of 2:28.39.

She was also part of three Trojans relay teams that qualified for state, along with Emma Angel, Sarah Angle and Emmi Johnson.

The most successful run came in the 4x400. Community crossed in 10th with a time of 4:34.13. In the 4x200, the quartet came in 13th. They finished 14 in the 4x100.

Victoria DiSalvo recorded a 12th in the girls 300 meters hurdles, covering the distance in 51.43.

In the high jump competition, Paige Meyer tried three times to clear 4’9.5. In practice – where marks are unofficial – she had conquered 5’0. But in Jefferson City she topped out at 4’7.5 to wind up in 14th place overall.

Paris boys in top ten

Drew Williams, Brock Miller and Reese Barton of Paris earned top tens on Saturday at the Class 1 championship.

Miller took sixth in pole vault, clearing 11’5.75. He was joined in the event by teammate Colton Kendrick, who ended up in 12th.

Barton topped 6’0 in high jump, which was good enough for seventh. Williams ran the boys 800 meters in 2:06.02, also a seventh place mark.

In addition to their individual events, Williams and Miller took part in the 4x400 with Chris Ebbesmeyer and Laken Edwards. The foursome came in 15th.
